That’s one of the most famous quotes in the world, we’ve heard it many times, and thought about it many more.
And yet one rarely does something about it.
It’s true – if you want to change the world for the better, you need to start with yourself.
After all, that’s what you have control over.
And it’s a great start.
Because then your actions will begin to affect other people’s lives, and your voice will be heard, your help – appreciated.
So here are 8 ways to do something good about this world:
What to Do to Become the Change You Want to See in The World
1. Set goals and achieve them.
We tend to forget that one of our missions here is to thrive, to do the best we can and become the best versions of ourselves.
And one of the inevitable steps you need to take is figure out what you really want, to build a strategy, do some thinking and do something every day in order to achieve it.
This is not egoistic. It’s your duty to go after your dreams, to be happy once you reach them, and to enjoy the whole journey.
It’s just that we live in a world where everyone’s overburdened with daily tasks, things to do that don’t really need to be done, fears, worries about the future and regrets for the past.
Stuff like that wastes our limited time on earth and we end up being no one, and getting nowhere in the end of our lives.
So go out there today and do whatever it takes to reach your goals.
Whenever you have the chance, help.
Be compassionate, be kind. Small acts like these can change the world.
Giving is the best investment.
I don’t really know why exactly, but the more you give, the more you get in return.
It’s important to do it with your whole heart, though. Don’t expect people to thank you, or to give you something back. That happens naturally.
Just give. Be it advice, company, love, belongings, some of your time or else, you’re helping other human beings to believe in themselves again.
Something as tiny as smiling to someone can change his whole day. It can make him share that smile with another one. And if that keeps going for a while, we’ll live in a more positive place.
Don’t forget that you always have something to give – even when you spend time with someone, you’re giving him your most precious possession, as it’s limited.
Happiness can also be shared. Talk to someone and try to make him realize that there are many beautiful things around. Encouragement is much needed these days.
4. Leave a great legacy.
I’ve already written about that, so check it out.
5. Be the best version of yourself.
You owe that to yourself.
Just imagine the level of regret you’ll feel after a few years, when you realize you could have become much more.
So do something about that.
Work out, eliminate toxic people and negative thoughts, travel and see places, expand your horizons, read and learn, eat well and be fresh and healthy, overcome your fears, learn new languages, have hobbies and evolve.
This way you’ll not only become someone you can be proud of and will feel much more contented, respected and successful, but you’ll also be a great role model to others. People will treat you well and you’ll have more to give them.
Doing the things we already mentioned will be enough to inspire others to do the same. So go ahead!
Write, paint, design, build, and do whatever you can to give something new to the world. These are the things that can make the next generation better.
You can also volunteer, join organizations and communities, take part in different events that aim to raise money for a good cause.
There are many ways. Just go out there and find your way to help the world become a better place.
And if you’re still wondering where to start, begin with yourself. There’s always room for improvement.
What other ways to become the change we want to see in the world can you suggest?
